Tea with a Teacher

IDEAted by Dr. Kimberly Peterkin and Dr. Adriana Szabo, Tea with a Teacher is an opportunity for the first-year students at our HNU-ASU International College (HAIC) in Hainan, China to meet their ASU professors in an informal setting. While sipping a cup of tea (or coffee) at the charming campus café, students and professors bond over common interests.

So far, over 100 first-year students have had the opportunity to chat with professors whom they would otherwise only meet in the second or third year of their programs. The goal of the project is to enhance students’ sense of belonging and to create a campus community that is as nurturing as it is scholarly.

The initiative is sponsored by a Watts College IDEA Grant.
